چکیده

Cardiac ventriculography is used to define the anatomy and function of the ventricles and related structures in patients with congenital, valvular, coronary, and myopathic heart disease (1–5). Specifically, left ventriculography may provide valuable information about global and segmental left ventricular function, mitral valvular incompetence, and the presence, location, and severity of a number of other abnormalities such as ventricular septal defect, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or left ventricular mural thrombus. As a result, left ventriculography is a routine part of diagnostic cardiac catheterization in patients being evaluated for coronary artery disease, aortic or mitral valvular disease, unexplained left ventricular failure, or congenital heart disease. Similarly, ventriculography may provide information about global and segmental right ventricular function and can be especially helpful in patients with congenital heart disease. In reality, however, right ventriculography is rarely performed in an adult cardiac catheterization laboratory. right

Optimal use of left ventriculography at the time of cardiac catheterization: a consensus statement from the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.

The rationale to perform left ventriculography at the time of cardiac catheterization has been little studied. The technique and frequency of use of left ventriculography vary by geographic regions, institutions, and individuals. Despite the recent publication of guidelines and appropriate use criteria for coronary angiography, revascularization, and noninvasive imaging, to date there have been...

Variation in use of left ventriculography in the Veterans Affairs Health Care System.

BACKGROUND Contrast left ventriculography is a method of measuring left ventricular function usually performed at the discretion of the invasive cardiologist during cardiac catheterization. We sought to determine variation in the use of left ventriculography in the Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System. METHODS AND RESULTS We identified adult patients who underwent cardiac catheterization ...

Radionuclide ventriculography for assessment of absolute right and left ventricular volumes in children.

We determined absolute right and left ventricular volumes and cardiac output from the equilibrium radionuclide angiogram in 26 children, ages 3 months to 18 years, with diverse types of heart disease. We validated these results by comparing them with left ventricular (20 patients) and right ventricular (16 patients) cineangiographic volumes and cardiac output. Radionuclide volumes and cardiac o...

The role of radionuclide ventriculography in the assessment of prognosis in patients with CAD.

One of the most important roles of cardiovascular nuclear medicine in evaluating patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) is predicting patient outcome. Measurements of ventricular function obtained by radionuclide ventriculography play a key role in defining a patient's prognosis. Because ventricular function correlates well with the total extent of myocardial ischemic burden, data derived ...

The clinical utility of radionuclide ventriculography in cardiac transplantation.

To assess ventricular function in patients who have undergone cardiac transplantation, 247 radionuclide ventriculograms were performed on 94 patients. During the first three days after transplantation, 19% demonstrated left ventricular dysfunction and 41% showed isolated right ventricular dysfunction. In 95 cases, radionuclide ventriculography was performed within 24 hr of myocardial biopsy. A ...
